NEWS: Willam makes history with Emmy Nomination

Willam Belli, known mononymously known as Willam, is a drag queen, recording artist and actor extraordinaire.
Appearing in Nip/Tuck, My Name is Earl and Criminal Minds, before finding success on season 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Since appearing on the show, Willam has gone onto to further acting success with A Star is Born and now getting nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series.
The role Willam has been nominated for is Douglas/Gomorrah Rayon on LGBTQ+ series Eastsiders.
Set in LA, the series follows a couple as they struggle with infedility and substance abuse.
After four critically-acclaimed seasons, Eastsiders sadly came to an end this year.
Willam’s performance has led to his first Daytime Emmy award nomination and it’s believed to be the first time a drag queen have been nominated for an Emmy in an acting category.
Willam celebrated the news on Twitter, saying it’s an “#honortobenominated.”
Condragulations to Willam, and let’s hope this is the start to drag artists being nominated in mainstream awards.
